Will Landschulz
Am Lit. Per. 2
Mrs. LaMagdeleine
This poor boy is torn up. Literally and figuratively. Deaf, no arms, covered in bandages, possibly blind as well, leg status unconfirmed. This is probably the worst one can get by participating in a war without dying. What's worse is that he hasn't thought of a reason for him to be on that bed, a mutilated shell of his former self. He was drafted into WWI, leaving behind a mother, a girlfriend, and the ghost of a father who had died in another war. He considers it not his business to "make the world safe for democracy." He becomes lost in a mixture of his own memories and the medication, with topics ranging from his girlfriend, to the day he learned about his father's death, to feelings of being submerged, what have you. This only serves to underline his fractured and repatched state of mind - the pottery is mended, but the cracks between the pieces do nothing to add to its beauty.

Will-
This is a really well written blog! I especially like how you incorporated the pottery and how he isn't healed yet. I agree with you and believe that he has a lot more emotional pain than physical pain. He has to live with pretty much nothing now and his past haunts him. Great blog!
I like your blog entry Will, a lot of good things to think about in there. I think it is sad that he has to lie on a bed and enter and exit consciousness leading him into long memories that mostly sadden him (his father's death, his old girlfriend, etc).
