Am. Lit. Per. 2
mrs. LaMagdeleine
One thing that we've noticed about Janie's relationships is that she is averse to doing the work that Logan or Joe have given her. However, when she gets to the Everglades with Tea Cake, she has no qualms about getting into the muck and working alongside him, doing work that is arguably worse than plowing or minding a store. I think this is because she was dissatisfied with her relationships, but she accepts Tea Cake and loves him, so she can't find it in her to be dissatisfied with him. There are some rocky spots though. There are times when she thinks he strayed to another woman, and there are times when he thinks she strayed to another guy. But when they set the record straight with each other, they trust each other and are happy again. Janie is back in the pseudo-dream of her pear tree and the golden glow it gave everything, except that this time, her dream is imbued with the clear lines of reality.
